  •  I would like to know if there are any communities that have developed templates to comply with SWPPP and SPCCP requirements and would be willing to share them rather than my trying to reinvent the wheel.

  • What ratio of Sand to Salt does your municipality typically use and are you using any anti-icing chemicals such as Calcium Chloride, Magnesium Chloride, Ice Ban, Salt Brine?

  • Our good friend in Central Falls is looking for a supplier of crushed asphalt and gravel to cover a vacant lot so that cars can park on it during snow storms.
    Can anyone recommend a supplier?


  • Can you let me know if there is any other Town/ City that has part time employees driving (1) ton Town/City owned trucks with plows?
    If there are Town/Cities that use this practice, do they conduct a onetime drug and alcohol test?
    
  • What do communities use for their plow edges? Steel or Rubber? What has been their experience with either?

    In regards to Saturdays early storm, we're there any communities that didn't do anything during the storm? We put down a little material and kept the hospital route clear. Was this consistent within other DPW's?

  • We would like to know how many times per season each street is swept per City/Town. And how their schedules are run.

  • Do you have any surplus equipment or materials that you could offer to another municipality for no or a very low cost? If so, what are they?

  • What Pavement Management Program are you using and would you recommend it to others?

 

  • In the aftermath of this winter, we have a resident asking for an ordinance to require property owners abutting fire hydrants to shovel out the hydrant upon cessation of the storm event. Could you kindly poll other communities to see if there are similar ordinances elsewhere in the State?

 

  • Where do the directors or superintendents purchase their catch basins, top sections, sumps, etc.  for drainage work?  Peter Chiaradio, DPW Director Westerly

 

  • Have you spent all of your LEAP funds? If not, how much is left to spend? Have all your projects been approved?

 

  • Who is using GPS tracking and who did they purchase there systems from.

 

  • Do you know if any towns are using or planning to use the ASIST software to track the maintenance, work orders, etc for their vehicles?  If not, what do they use?
  • Was your department called on to inspect or remove snow from municipal buildings this winter?

 

  • Have you heard anything from other towns having trouble getting salt deliveries?

  • EP has been in the news of late on unshoveled sidewalks due to an unfortunate accident involving pedestrians walking in Pawtucket Ave, a busy State roadway.
